1. You can now create 'Parent/Guardian' accounts with parent email data.

In order to provide support for remote learning by all students in a pre-K through 12th grade school system, and to provide parents with a view of their student's learning activities in using the OYOclass platform, data administrators may now include parent email information in the student data upload to have 'Parent/Guardian' accounts created.
A 'Parent/Guardian' account has the ability to view their child's learning data, but does not give direct access to any of the apps or communities their children are members of. This means that if you provide the optional parent email data in your upload of student data, 'Parent/Guardian' accounts will not be loaded into the communities students are a part of, but will be able to access certain platform functions, such as resetting student account passwords, or helping to administer portfolio/project data belonging to the student account. 'Parent/Guardian' accounts will not be able to edit any student-created files, but will be able to view student data in order to help students manage their own files, badges, portfolios, or other student-created work.
When 'Parent/Guardian' accounts are created, OYOclass will create emails to be sent to the email addresses provided, informing them about their new OYOclass accounts so they can gain access. Data administrators will be provided with an action button to determine when these emails will be sent, in order to allow for custom methods of notifying parents about their new accounts. (Such as sending official school email prior to generating OYOclass system email to minimize confusion as spam).
Here is how this process works for data administrators using OYOclass:
- Within your own OYOclass account, you will receive a status update informing you that the data was successfully loaded, and parent accounts are waiting to be notified.

- You may choose to take this time to send advance notice to parents to expect an email from OYOclass, if necessary or optimal to avoid confusion as spam.
- You will see a new button beside the 'Status' of your data upload under 'Actions' labelled 'Notify Parents'.

- When you click on this button, a modal will pop up confirming that you wish to notify parents at this time. Once you click Confirm to Send, emails will begin sending to the parent email accounts. Parents will receive an email and be asked to set their own password prior to taking custody of their own OYOclass account.

- During this time, your action button will change to say Mailing.... This will update automatically once all the emails associated with your data load are sent out.

After some time, you will receive another notification informing you that all the emails have been sent to parents. After this, the process is complete and no further action is required.


2. You can now provide your mobile phone number to receive status updates via text message (USA only)

This will allow you to receive important status updates immediately on your phone such as if a load has succeeded, failed, or requires further action.
The phone number provided is your area code and mobile number, entered with no spaces or dashes, such as 1112223333.
The mobile number loaded is not bound to your personal account, and is not stored for permanent use. Each new data upload that requires monitoring requires a new mobile number entry to be performed.
